Stonewall iExplore Narrative

Learner: Ouryu, Percy, Towai, Akshdeep, Kah Jun and Katherine
Learning Coach: Mr Hattie          Date:19 August 2016
Learning Area: Learning Habitat 1 - iExplore
Learning Observed
In iExplore we have a small group that is Collaborating on an iExplore to gain more Capabilities around iExplore. Ouryu, Percy, Towai, Akshdeep, Kah Jun and Katherine are looking at making board games. For this iExplore to be successful we are needing to explore some board games to gain ideas and tips about how we can create a game of our own. I introduced them to the game Stonewall, as this is what our Hapu group is named after. While the learners were playing this game they had to write down important parts of board games that will help us make our own. Ouryu, Percy, Towai, Akshdeep, Kah Jun and Katherine were in teams and they were very excited about this game. The different Capabilities that were being used to understand how to play were very impressive. Kah Jun, Akshdeep, Percy and Ouryu were in the same team and they were talking about how this board game was easy to understand. They wrote down that their game had to be simple. Katherine was with some of her friends and she noticed that there weren’t many rules and she thought that she didn’t want many rules. Towai thought that the part about sending people back to the start made the game funny and he said that he wants to have something like that in his game. I am looking forward to seeing what they can come up with for their own board games.

  • Write instructions for their games.
  • Create a theme for their games.
  • Create a board and pieces for their games.

My iRefliction

Wednesday 16 august

iReflection

I learnt that to be a good reader you to practice and read lots of books to be a good reader.

I was proud of my speech because I got my planing and writing my speech in my learning book and I hope I get it finished by the time it is time to read my speech.

My goal for tomorrow is to get my speech done and my Q-cards done for the speech.

THE END.

Gardening iExplore Narrative

Learner: Maanvi, Kim, Cassandra, and Katherine    Learning Coach: Mr Hattie          Date:2016
Learning Area: Learning Habitat 1 - iExplore
Learning Observed
Maanvi, Kim, Cassandra, and Katherine for iExplore are showing their Capabilities with organising an iExplore about a Gardening Competition. This will be run across the entire school. Today they were working on getting the garden prepared for each plot. For this they had to learn about meter rulers and find the area and perimeter of the garden bed. This was new learning for all. Maanvi, Kim, Cassandra, and Katherine were really excited about their new learning. Once they knew how big the garden area was they had to section it off for each plot. For this they stapled string to the garden to section it off. Maanvi, Kim, Cassandra, and Katherine were using the string and staple gun to mark out the section. For this they had to Collaborate and make sure that it was straight and the correct size. (nameS_) all worked very well together and have shown their Capabilities with Math and iExplore.
