Learner:Katherine, Selestine, Norah, Gracy, Aryan and William                              Learning Coach: Mr Hattie         Date: 3 March 2016
Learning Area: Learning Habitat 1 - Literacy
Learning Observed
For literacy the Death Star group are starting Literacy Circles. This is a learner book club where they are in charge of their learning and have roles they need to perform in the group meetings about the text. We started with breaking down what we view as an effective group and the different things we need to accomplish for the literacy circle. We brainstormed many ideas and created a wordle to present our findings. Also we did the same for what an effective group member looks like. We had our first meeting today and we managed to get through most of the roles before the time was up. This means that for next time the learners are going to have direct the meeting and not get of topic. This will help the learners break down the text and understand it better. The learners have been showing the Vision Principles of Capable and Collaborate as the learners are working as a group and having to use the reading skills and strategies they have to produce a high understanding of the text.
Evidence of learning
